Cape Cod weather represents a formidable foe for the exterior of your home. The combination of sand, salt and wind can reek havoc on your shingles, siding and trim. That’s why The Barnstable Painter takes the following steps when re-painting your home:

  • We will power wash the exterior of your home to remove mold and mildew while maintaining the integrity of your shingles and siding.
  • We sand all depleted and peeling paint.
  • We apply a primer coat to seal wood.
  • We replace rot (if customer requests) on the following:
    • Doors, windows, bulkheads, shingles and siding, rake boards, decks and handrails. No need to call a carpenter, we have these services in-house.
  • We apply an oil stain, latex stain or tinted sealer to shingles and siding.
  • We wash all windows when done.

Your house will look spectacular. Read how some of our existing customers evaluated our work.

The Barnstable Painter will provide you with a quote within two days of your agreement to work together. Our quote will include a description of the preparation and work to be done, including paint (trim) colors, wood preservative and a complete list of surfaces to be painted. If you have excluded certain areas of your home from this project, this will be detailed in the project scope. We will provide you with an estimated start and completion date. The Barnstable Painter usually requests a ten percent deposit when you return the signed contract. We also request fifty percent of the remaining balance when we begin the project on-site and the remaining balance due when you are completely satisfied that your project is done to your exact specifications.

We will do everything in our power to assure that your landscaping and plantings are protected during the job.

  • We recommend that you power wash and maintain your deck every two years.
  • Even “maintenance free” decks have to be power washed to remove mold and mildew.
  • We highly recommend that you steer clear of paraffin-based preservatives. They are not effective in preserving wood, as they do not penetrate into the wood. Instead, we recommend transparent stains that reveal the beauty of the wood while serving to strengthen and preserve it against the elements.

It is important that you use a professional, experienced power washer to clean

  • Your Home
  • Your Deck
  • Your Boat
  • Your RV
  • Your Pool & Patio Area
  • Patio
  • Swimming Pool
  • Awnings
  • Lawn Furniture

By not hiring a professional, you may run the risk of using too high a pressure which may pulverize the shingles or siding on your house. This weakens the wood and is visually un-appealing as it makes the wood look fuzzy. Other damage that may occur includes blown windows, water projected under soffits, shingles and rake boards, and even blown into vents causing undo damage.

We highly recommend your deck be power washed every two years, preferably in the Spring. Your shingles and siding should be done every 2-3 depending on your location and exposure to the elements. In all cases an appropriate preservative should follow the power wash when the surfaces have dried.
